A LITTLE BIT OF MY JOB
In this posting, I would like to tell and share a little bit about my job. Now, I’m working in Shangri-la Hotel Jakarta as Public Area Attendant which is under Housekeeping Department . Talking about Housekeeping, especially Public Area, my job desk is all about dust because the job desk in Housekeeping is to keep clean, tidy and comfort for all of hotel area except kitchen area and another one which has been designated by the hotel. The important task for us as Public Area Attendant is to keep clean the guest toilet up, therefore we are also called as toilet attendant. Here, I will explain about the task of Public Area Attendant for each shift based on my experience and my knowledge that I have.
Morning Shift (07.00 – 16.00)
Morning shift hold the task quite a lot and have a very important role because all of activities starts in the morning. Public Area Attendant who in charge in this shift will be given a briefing by the supervisor and will given the task for each attendant for responsible for the designated area. If there is event is going on, Public Area Attendant must be standby in that place, responsible to keep clean area including guest toilet. If there is no events, Public Area Attendant will doing general cleaning in the area that assigned.
Evening Shift (14.00 – 23.00)
The attendant who in charge in this shift will usually continue and replace the work / tasks of morning attendant or just standby at place that event is going on, if any. If there is any special event such as wedding, attendant in this shift will responsible for the area, even there is an attendant that specially responsible just for guest toilet only.
Night Shift (23.00 – 08.00)
Attendant who in charge in this shift usually will not too busy as morning and evening shift. This shift usually doing a special project that given by the supervisor such as shampooing carpet, extract sofa chair, cleaning ac grill, etc. Even the day before the big day such as Eid, Christmas, Chinese New Year, etc. attendant in this shift will decorating hotel area according the theme.
